Hours : Up to 26 hours per week (including potential weekend and evening shifts)
Compensation : $72 - $80 per hour, commensurate with experience and aligned with Health Authority rates
Start Date : Ideally early 2025 (flexible for the right candidate)
About Umbrella Multicultural Health Cooperative
Umbrella Multicultural Health Cooperative (Umbrella Co-op) is a member-driven, not-for-profit community health centre (CHC) . Our members self-identify as facing language and cultural barriers in accessing healthcare. Our mission is to provide affordable, holistic, culturally, and linguistically appropriate healthcare services for those without access to health security.
We operate under a Cross Cultural Health Broker (CCHB) Model , where multicultural, multilingual healthcare workers facilitate communication between patients, service providers, and health and social service systems.
About the Nurse Practitioner Role
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work within an interdisciplinary team , providing specialized, comprehensive, and longitudinal primary care to racialized immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers served by Umbrella Co-op CHC. The role requires commitment to the CHC and CCHB model .
Team & Work Environment
The NP will be part of the Clinics+ program , which includes :
- CCHBs , family physicians , a registered nurse , pediatricians , MOAs , a Social Determinants of Health (SDH) coordinator , a social worker , a clinical counsellor , administrative staff , and volunteers .
- The in-office and virtual clinic operates Monday to Friday .
- The Mobile Clinic program operates Sundays throughout the Fraser Valley (occasional participation required).
- Additional weekend and evening shifts may be expected.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive assessment of patients, families, and communities, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions .Initiating treatment , managing healthcare , prescribing medications , and providing therapeutic interventions following regulatory standards.Providing professional guidance to other health professionals.Practicing autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team-based model .Referring patients to specialist physicians, allied healthcare, and SDH resources as appropriate.Position Details & Benefits

Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) .Recent relevant clinical nursing experience .Understanding of social determinants of health and barriers faced by racialized ethnocultural communities .Experience working in a culturally diverse, community-based setting and team-based care .Fluency in one of the languages of the communities we serve is an asset .How to Apply
