Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Supportive Shared Housing - Housing Stability Direct Service (OPSEU) Full-Time, Contract (End date May 3, 2025) St. Thomas, Ontario (Elgin Zone) - Application Deadline : January 6, 2025 -   We believe in community. The Addiction and Mental Health Worker with Housing Stability provides high intensity community-based services and supports to individuals who are transitioning from chronic homelessness to short-stay transitional housing (typically up to 1 year), with an ultimate goal of securing and maintaining permanent housing. Consider revitalizing your career and making a difference in your community by joining our team!   WHAT WE'RE OFFERING : What you’ll be making : Starting rate for this role is  $26.74  per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ( $29.57  per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated) : Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated) For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement When you'll work - 70 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, 8 : 30am-4 : 30pm   Your pension plan –Optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)   What your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE : Support individuals in a staffed shared housing setting, with services appropriate to a rapid transitional model, medium-to-high acuity housing stabilization model Provide low-acuity support to additional individuals under a low-support, post-transition follow-up model, or in a low-to-medium acuity short-stay housing model Assess individuals’ strengths, needs, abilities and preferences Assist and motivate individuals to identify and work towards achievement of their goals Complete mental health and addiction assessments as part of an overall assessment of an individual’s needs in order to inform service planning Complete and coordinate referrals to internal and external services to support achievement of goals Assess individuals’ strengths, abilities, needs and preferences and assist to work towards goals Provide independent life skills coaching, including education on personal hygiene, routine development, budgeting, use of transportation, and other life skills Provide health and wellness support, including medication education, symptom management, and coping skills WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY : Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.
