Established commercial/residential millwork operation serving the local BC market is looking for an experienced Millwork Designer to join our established operation. As a skilled technical specialist you are comfortable taking on the responsibility of collecting and assessing preliminary technical information and producing accurately rendered drawings required for cabinet and millwork manufacturing.
Working as part of a team of fully trained and experienced estimators/project managers and production staff your day to day responsibilities will include:
- Create accurate drawings of casework, panels, and other components for commercial/residential millwork in AutoCAD using supplied dimensions, drawings and estimating data.
- Ensure that all drawings are kept up to date with correct notations and support docs.
- Ensure that all technical drawings and related data are complete, accurate, current, named and stored correctly and suitable for downstream engineering use and automated production.
- Adhere to required project specifications, building codes and other industry standards.
- Ensure the efficient utilization of software features to full effect to generate efficiencies, minimize duplication of effort, eliminate errors and maximize production.
- Assist in resolving any design, production or installation issues that may arise.
- Based on your skillsets, conduct any additional analysis, optimization or software programming that may be needed to ensure maximum material utilization and efficient production.
- Work closely with with Estimating and Project Management staff to prepare preliminary bid packages, identify and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Handle technical inquiries from other project stakeholders as needed.
- Look for opportunities to improve CAD drawing conversion efficiencies.
To fully qualify for and be successful in this position you must have:
- AutoCAD experience in a Casework, Millwork or Woodwork type environment.
- A minimum of 3 years’ related experience in the production environment of a medium to large millwork or cabinet manufacturer.
- A strong overall understanding of computerized systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings/bid documents and conceptualize projects accurately.
- Excellent analytical and judgmental skills; detail oriented and organized with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize daily tasks and implement processes and procedures to support this.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Team player with an ability to work with others effectively and respectfully.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency using other general office software (eg Microsoft Office).
- A personal drive to reach your development potential as a design/engineering professional.
