Position Summary

Within a consultant business setting, the Health & Safety Agriculture Specialist is responsible for supporting a client within our Windsor Team. Reporting to the HSE Operations Managing Principal, this position is accountable for Health & Safety responsibilities assisting a client in cultivating a large-scale greenhouse construction project. Responsibilities range from project specific safety plans, to ensuring compliance of workplace construction activities, hazard assessment & control, to managing all OHS requirements within an agriculture setting for the client.

Some Key Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise and advice to clients, colleagues and management on health, safety and environmental issues within the agriculture setting.
  • Provides internal and external reports, timesheets and other required documentation
  • Familiarization with client project specific safety plans and manages all personnel from a H&S perspective ensuring compliance.

Ie. Onsite trades, subcontractor H&S program documents and or permits while conducting orientations, safety talks and training as required

  • Supports Occupational Safety, & Health strategies
  • Assists with job- hazard assessments for client’s direct operations
  • Conducts regular safety inspections / audits of the greenhouse sites, take necessary and timely corrective actions to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions and to fulfill the needs and expectations of the client
  • Assists with on-site incidents, accidents, investigations and H&S requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the team
  • Qualifications / Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Health and Safety, or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of direct onsite safety experience within an industrial or agricultural setting
  • Experience in greenhouse construction is a strong asset
  • Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA and Regulations and Regulations for Construction projects
  • Field level safety audit and inspection experience
  • Proficient with computer applications, tablets and the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills
