Role Overview
The SEM Station Manager oversees all Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) tunneling activities within a designated station area, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
This role involves managing day-to-day activities, coordinating with multiple teams, and ensuring that project milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations Management
- Oversee and manage all SEM activities within the assigned station, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Monitor daily progress and provide direction to teams to address any delays or challenges.
- Ensure all work aligns with the approved construction methods and safety protocols.
Safety Leadership
- Enforce strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Organize safety briefings and ensure team members are properly trained in site safety protocols.
Resource Coordination
- Coordinate the delivery and allocation of materials, tools, and equipment required for SEM operations.
- Verify and track material usage to minimize waste and ensure availability for ongoing work.
- Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to meet project demands.
Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Ensure that all construction activities meet or exceed quality standards.
- Review and maintain accurate documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), shift logs, and QA reports.
- Monitor and report on deviations from project plans, proposing corrective measures where necessary.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Supervise and guide SEM Shift Engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.
- Promote a collaborative working environment to resolve challenges and improve operational efficiency.
- Act as a liaison between station teams, management, and other project stakeholders to ensure clear communication.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience :
Proven experience managing SEM tunneling activities, with expertise in underground construction projects.
Technical Skills :
- Strong knowledge of SEM techniques, tunneling methodologies, and related equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction plans and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
Leadership Abilities :
- Effective team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to handle complex project challenges.
Safety and Quality Focus :
Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards throughout project execution.
Education :
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
