The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) provides enhanced visitor experiences and educational programming in Wascana Centre and at the Government House to inspire pride in Saskatchewan's Capital City. The Provincial Capital Commission’s strategic focus is to enhance the quality of life in the Capital city by creating community partnerships, promoting visitor experiences, and providing stewardship of the land and assets. We are looking to add a highly skilled, innovative and energetic individual to our team as an Infrastructure Technologist to assist with ongoing projects.
As the Infrastructure Technologist, you will :
- Extract and input information and data between AutoCAD / Civil3D and GIS software.
- Complete detailed structural and municipal engineering designs, reports, cost estimates, and drawings for projects.
- Provide input to long term planning by providing advice to building operations and management personnel on possible projects and phasing for inclusion in the plans.
- Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) terms of reference documents, tender and contract documents, advertise and tender for services, recommend consultant(s), review and evaluate consultant reports / proposals and contribute to the determination of recommendations to the Commission with the help of the SaskBuilds and Procurement team.
- Be responsible for ensuring appropriate occupational health and safety measures are taken on all projects.
- Maintain records of all aspects of the project delivery, including meetings and decisions, work progress, risks, and issues encountered.
- Research and analyze project engineering design requirements and / or infrastructure problems and deficiencies. Collect data, inspect project sites, conduct feasibility studies, research engineering design alternatives, interview and consult with Government agencies and stakeholders who will be involved in, or affected by, the construction of the project.
- Investigate regulatory requirements and restrictions unique to the project, determine regulatory approval timelines, create / prepare drawings and information needed to acquire necessary permits and licenses prior to construction, and evaluate environmental impact and public safety.
- Compose and prepare correspondence / briefing material pertaining to assigned projects for the Director of Stewardship and Operations.
You will need the ability to :
Read and interpret detailed structural plans.Coordinate infrastructure and operational projects throughout Wascana Centre and the Government House.Deal courteously with colleagues and members of the public.Provide immediate responses to questions or concerns involving the application of clearly defined processes or procedures.Effectively use both oral and written communications in a clear and concise manner to avoid misinterpretation, with the ability to transfer knowledge (verbal or written) to ensure comprehension of technical or specialized information.Ensure that advice provided is appropriate to address underlying problems through excellent listening skills.Have excellent project management skills.Qualifications :
A diploma in Engineering Technology or related field and up to three years of engineering technologist work experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.Knowledge of drafting using AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft products).We are committed to workplace diversity.Hours of Work : A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks
