The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre has a 24‑hour emergency department, medical and surgical wards, rehabilitation, chronic pain and ambulatory care services, a meticulously run lab, respiratory therapy and diagnostic imaging departments. The main entrance to the building is 19428 Nova Scotia Trunk 2, Amherst NS B4H 3Y4.
Position Details
- Position : Full‑Time Security Guard
- Site : Cumberland Regional Hospital
- Hours : Rotational Shifts – 0700‑1900 / 1900‑0700
- Payrate : $20.50
Key Responsibilities
Patrol Hospital Grounds – conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.Monitor Surveillance Systems – operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.Access Control – monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas.Respond to Emergencies – act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats; assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.Provide Customer Service – greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.Conflict Resolution – de‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.Report Writing – document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately; complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.Collaboration with Hospital Staff – work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.Enforce Hospital Policies – ensure hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed; address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.Prerequisites
Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova ScotiaValid Standard First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor)COVID Vaccine – two dosesImmunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and a two‑step TB skin testEnglish (oral and written) fluency is a mustPrevious experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferredMust provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)Applicants lacking these certifications may opt into Paladin’s UOF / MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet position requirementsPaladin will cover all UOF / MOAB training costs with a 6‑month commitment to the position / availabilityWhy choose Paladin?
