Manager, Accounts Payable

Job Description

Our client a well-established organization with a strong track record and ongoing growth in Halifax is seeking an experienced Manager Accounts Payable to lead and continuously optimize their procure-to-pay operations.

Reporting to the Controller the Accounts Payable Manager will lead the full procure-to-pay lifecycle driving efficiency accuracy and automation initiatives. This versatile permanent role combines subject-matter expertise with change leadership to streamline workflows enhance compliance and ensure timely accurate vendor payments.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Provide leadership and development for a centralized Accounts Payable team including recruitment performance management and professional growth while fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement
• Lead and evolve the organizations procure-to-pay strategy by establishing clear standardized processes and strong internal controls
• Partner closely with Operations and Procurement to ensure accurate invoice processing and timely vendor payments
• Develop monitor and report on KPIs dashboards and exception reporting to drive performance and lead month-end AP close activities
• Evaluate end-to-end workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency automation and process optimization implementing AI and other finance technology solutions as appropriate
• Develop governance frameworks training plans and SOPs to support responsible adoption of automation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Proactively address payment issues maintain strong vendor relationships and safeguard confidential financial and personal information in accordance with internal controls and privacy standards

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or Commerce
• CPA designation is a definite asset but not required
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay environments
• Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems is an asset
• Proven experience leading process improvement and automation initiatives
• Strong data analysis skills including dashboards KPIs and exception reporting
• Experience operating in a shared services model supporting multiple business lines
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and management levels
