Overview
GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. is a rapidly growing company that designs and manufactures state‑of‑the‑art underwater acoustic components, transducers and integrated end‑to‑end systems for maritime surveillance and exploration. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to build and test complex electro‑mechanical and electro‑acoustic components and systems.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed drawings, assembly procedures, routing cards, schematics, and bills of materials.
- Assemble transducer products and systems, including mechanical, bonded, electro‑mechanical, and encapsulation assembly using workshop tooling.
- Conduct product tests such as hydrostatic pressure testing, load testing, environmental testing and electro‑acoustic characterization with a variety of test devices and methods.
- Maintain detailed product build and test documentation, assess product compliance to established quality standards and sign‑off key build stages.
- Contribute to refinement of product design, build documentation and processes through record of changes and red‑lines for review during product assembly.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve production and assembly issues.
- Prepare materials for assembly using solvent cleaning and abrasive surface preparation.
- Use chemicals, adhesives and compounds to encapsulate and bond parts.
- Record actions in production and quality forms in accordance with ISO9001 requirements.
- Identify non‑conforming products or parts and follow quarantine procedures as required.
- Maintain a clean, hazard‑free workstation by cleaning equipment, tidying the production floor and complying with health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
Formal technician or technology training from a recognized college or university.Prior experience working with equipment for underwater use, including electro‑mechanical devices.Experience in assembly of complex mechanical systems, test engineering, bonded assembly or encapsulation (asset).Proficient computer literacy suitable for updating documents and referencing technical documentation.Strong reading comprehension, writing and documentation skills.Experience or willingness to learn engineering documentation.Solution‑oriented with the ability to identify and solve problems.Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS certification (or ability to obtain).Security Requirements
