Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision, this opportunity as a Senior Solutions Analyst, as part of our Internal Reporting team, you will contribute to Wawanesa success by designing, documenting, testing, and supporting both ETL and reporting solutions to meet business stakeholder requirements.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a small scrum team model that facilitates the design, development, and implementation of ETL and / or reporting solutions. You will have strong systems and data analytical skills within data warehouse, business intelligence, data integration and reporting concepts and principles, preferably the Kimball methodology, and with a strong technical acumen with SQL query writing and data profiling. This role will provide timely and accurate data solutions and reports to support business decision making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis, design, and documentation of ETL and / or reporting requirements for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and / or reporting enhancements and projects.
  • Facilitate requirement, design and prototyping sessions with business and system teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior Solution Analysts, and onboard new analysts.
  • Data profile, research and extract complex data via writing SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with multiple functional teams to ensure quality solutions.
  • Create test cases / plans based on requirements documentation and defect resolutions.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve both ETL and reporting issues.
  • Estimate and track progress of assigned work.
  • Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines. Contribute to continuous improvement of processes or defining new processes.
  • Keep up to date with current system standards and IS departmental established methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years' practical experience performing either in a systems or data analyst role facilitating and documenting requirements, and design recommendations for Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Data products and / or reporting solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, especially within the Claims data area, is an asset. Experience with the Guidewire application and data model is an asset.
  • Practical experience writing, performance tuning and debugging queries against Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Detail oriented with analytical, data profiling and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify data patterns, issues and take proper action to resolve them.
  • Experience in data warehouse models, preferably with Kimball, as well as data integrations.
  • Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize a busy workload.
  • Advanced attention to detail skills to produce high quality deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload, with various situations and changing priorities.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to estimate and scope the effort, develop and implement plans by prioritizing and multi-tasking.
  • Strong leadership skills to provide support and guidance to team members.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Agile practices, Scrum, Kanban and Continuous Delivery.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Tableau, or related reporting solutions considered an asset.
  • Experience with AWS, Cloud tools, Redshift is considered an asset.
  • Completion of post-secondary degree / certificate or equivalent experience.
