Position Overview
Microserve is looking for an Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team on a full-time permanent basis to work from our Burnaby locations.
As the Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator you will be working closely with the People & Culture and Tech Centre teams, assisting in administration and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety for all our four Tech Centers as well as providing project & administrative support to the Director of Supply Chain. This will require scheduling and coordinating joint health & safety meetings, managing & creating OHS documentation, taking meeting minutes and executing action items and revising process documents. This is a great opportunity for an individual looking to gain hands-on experience in operations as you will be working closely with a lean and efficient team.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate must be organized, able to balance multiple priorities, and willing to take the initiative on the tasks assigned. A keen attention to detail is needed to maintain the best quality of work. Computer skills are an important requirement for this position, as you will be required to learn to use multiple programs such as Connectwise.
Responsibilities : OHS Compliance
- Assist the Director of Supply Chain in executing operational and administrative tasks
- Schedule and coordinate joint health & safety committee meetings
- Facilitate meetings and support in completion of action items
- Research various OHS regulations as per provincial standards in AB and BC
- Write and edit OHS documentation and project plans
- Take and distribute meeting notes and follow up on action items
- Support in managing important OHS documentation such as safety certifications and re-certification (forklift certificates, first aid certificates, etc.), building reports, floor plans, etc.
- Plan and implement action items and next steps for ensuring OHS compliance with all 4 locations
Tech Centre Operations Administration :
Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Supply ChainProvide reporting and analysis support on technical resources and operationsSupport ad-hoc duties as neededEnvironmental Program Administration
Environmental and Sustainability Compliance – ensure all health and safety practices align with the organization’s environmental and sustainability goals. Promote initiatives that reduce environmental impact and support sustainable practices within the workplace. Including, but not limited to :Conducting environmental auditsImplement waste management programsProvide training and awarenessEstablish systems to monitor environmental impactDevelop and prepare emergency response plans to reduce environmental impactAdvise on sustainable resource managementWhat you will learn :
Good working knowledge of ticketing platforms such as ConnectwiseAn overview of technologies used within a business environmentOpportunity to gain insight on operational management of an IT companyUnderstanding of projects and operations required to operate a Tech CentreStrong Excel and data analysis skillsCommunication skillsDesired Qualifications and Education Requirements :
Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related fieldCanadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certifications as well as specialized training in ergonomics, industrial hygiene, or environmental management considered an assetProof of continuing professional development and keeping up to date with current best OH&S practices is advantageousStrong understanding of OSHA regulations, risk assessment techniques, and safety management principles. You have a can-do attitude, and the desire to roll up your sleeves and get things done!Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time sensitivity for deadline driven workAble to utilize Excel and its various functions (formulas, Pivot Tables, VLookup)Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriatelyYou are organized and able to take ownership over a project and its different componentsPassion for health and safetyProfessionalism is your middle name, and you maintain sound judgment in sensitive situationsStrong ability to multitask and prioritizeCorporate responsibility

Please note, while the pay range of the role is listed here, this position’s salary is non-negotiable based on geographical market. Your exact salary is determined based on a combination of your relevant experience, skill, competencies, and internal pay equity.
