DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Reporting to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Liberal Studies and Professional & Part-time Learning (PPL), the Director, Program Quality & Development is responsible for all dimensions of program quality and development relating to the programs and courses offered through Professional and Part-time Learning (PPL).
This includes investigating, researching and vetting all new program and course proposals and making recommendations to the PPL leadership team.
This work may entail identifying internal and external pathways and developing partnerships and / or articulation agreements with external organizations.
The incumbent is further responsible for leading the program and course approval process and preparing all required documentation for credentials spanning micro-credentials through to degree level courses and / or programs.
The incumbent also oversees all course and program development, the majority of which is online, as well as course and program revision.
This requires hiring and supervising all course development staff including subject-matter experts.
Further, the incumbent leads and coordinates all program and course quality activities for PPL. This requires the creation and coordination of quality assurance mechanisms designed for PPL’s diverse offerings.
In this capacity, the incumbent will support the leadership team in executing program reviews, changes and suspensions.
As a member of the leadership team, the incumbent represents PPL on a number of college-wide committees and working groups and acts as the primary liaison with the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
Further, the incumbent contributes to the development and implementation of strategies that will contribute to the advancement of PPL and will be required to lead special projects and initiatives as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Minimum of a master’s degree
- Minimum of 9 years of related experience which may include post-secondary teaching, online learning design, development and delivery, management and leadership experience
- Exceptionally strong critical thinking, influencing, communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to effectively apply an equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging lens as well as appreciate the impacts of intersectionality
- Highly innovative and able to proactively identify risks relating to the adoption of new learning approaches as well as ways of mitigating those risks
- Extremely strong skills in leadership, conflict resolution, teamwork, research and organizational change management
- Solid learning technology skills, particularly in the use of LMS systems
- Solid understanding of AODA requirements
- Highly motivated and able to function in high volume, stressful environments
- Mature problem solving and analytical skills

- Ability to process and assimilate new knowledge quickly
