The Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic Respirologist fulfilling the academic position description of Clinician Teacher. The candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Expected start date is May 1, 2025 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in clinical Respirology with a focus on management of respiratory complications in cancer patients and Interventional Pulmonology. The candidate must be skilled in Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and pleural disease diagnostics and management. The successful candidate will be expected to clinically cover call on the General Respirology inpatient consult service as well as actively participate in both General Respirology and Cancer specific ambulatory clinics.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Respirology and Internal Medicine; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will also have respective training suiting the academic position. Candidates applying as a Clinician Teacher, will require one or more years of fellowship training post-residency in a defined area relevant to the proposed position, with the expectation that some form of training in health professions education will be completed within three years. The successful candidate will devote approximately 75% of their time to patient care and 25% to teaching and administrative work within the University and Division of Respirology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Estimated remuneration will be between $200,000 and $350,000 per year (fee for service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
