REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR
- STATUS : Part-Time (4 days / week or 30 hrs / week) Employee or Contractor Status
- PROGRAMS : PTSD-Occupational Trauma (PTSD) and Occupational Rehabilitation (OR)
- LOCATION : Abbotsford, BC
- SALARY / Employee Status : Median Rate of $39.62 / hour (Salary will be dependent on education, experience, skills and internal equity.)
- RATE / Contractor Status : 50-55% of fees (this will be dependent on related experience, education, skills and internal equity)
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Manager, the Clinical Counsellor is responsible for the facilitation of education classes, relaxation training groups, and individual psychological treatment / counselling sessions within the context of the Occupational Trauma Program.
STANDARDS OF PRACTICE
All Clinical Counsellors comply with the ethical and professional standards as outlined by their Association (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors).
Clinical Counsellors also comply with Back in Motion’s Code of Ethical Conduct.
PTSD Program :
The RCC will provide treatment to adults who have been previously diagnosed with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The RCC will have 2 or more years of clinical experience and must be well versed with evidence based treatment for PTSD, such as prolonged exposure, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and / or cognitive processing therapy.
The RCC will develop and implement individual treatment plans, write reports, and liaise with stakeholders. The RCC works closely with our interdisciplinary team that includes Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Counsellors and Kinesiologists.
Occupational Rehabilitation (OR) Program :
The RCC Role within the Occupational Rehab 2 Program (OR2) is to offer short-term, one-on-one psychological support and empirically validated treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)to clients enrolled in physical therapy.
Experience with pain management and working with individuals with physical injuries is necessary. , including. Psychological treatment is given within a rehabilitation context, focusing on a successful and durable return to work.
Treatment goals are realistic within the program's scope and duration. Intake, progress, and discharge reports are completed in a timely manner.
Accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records are maintained. ePsycho-educational classes on various relevant subjects are also provided in a group format.
Effective communication and consultation skills are essential; both within a multidisciplinary team environment, and also in communications with referral sources and customers.
This role requires solid clinical judgment, capacity for crisis intervention when necessary, and adherence to Back In Motion's policies, procedures, practices, and service standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications :
- Excellent knowledge of the practice of counselling in a rehabilitation environment.
- M.A. in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
- Registered or eligible for registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors
- Excellent skills in providing short-term psychological treatment / counselling and skills training.
- Knowledge of effective pain management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in a rehabilitation context
- Experience working with third party providers
- Experience treating clients who have experienced trauma would be an asset
