About the Role :
Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition & People Development, the Talent Acquisition Consultant is part of a collaborative team, ensuring a fair and equitable hiring process for both union and non-union positions, following established best practices and strategic frameworks.
The Consultant will play a vital role in partnering with hiring managers across the University to provide guidance throughout the full-cycle recruitment process.
The Talent Acquisition Consultant will :
- Coordinate all aspects of the recruitment process including job posting development, screening applications, conducting interviews, and extending job offers;
- Conduct in-depth intake meetings with hiring managers to understand role requirements, discuss sourcing strategies, and confirm screening and assessment criteria;
- Provide guidance and ensure legislative, collective agreement, policy, and best practice compliance within the talent acquisition portfolio;
- Create a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment and selection process;
- Actively incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives into the talent acquisition process;
- Participate in the implementation of new strategic recruitment initiatives including employer branding and representing Brock University as a preferred place to work;
- Troubleshoot and recommend enhancements to the Workday system as it relates to recruitment, to continuously improve end-user experience and efficiency;
- Facilitate training for hiring managers (, interview processes and techniques, Workday recruitment module).
Key Skills and Qualifications :
- A university degree in a related field ( business administration, psychology, communications, social sciences), preferably with a concentration in human resources management;
- Demonstrated experience supporting full cycle recruitment and knowledge of recruitment best practices and the human resource function;
- Knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, collective agreements, and customer service standards;
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and make recommendations in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, best practices, and collective agreements;
- Organizational and time management skills are required to manage high workload volumes and prioritize workflow to fulfill the demands of this position;
- Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principles;
- Excellent consultative, influencing, and negotiating skills;
- Ability to exercise tact, sound professional judgment, and maintain confidentiality;
- Excellent written communication and record keeping skills;
- Ability to re-evaluate current processes and utilize metrics to suggest improvements;
- Creativity to bring forward strategies for position advertising, branding, and processes.
Preferred or Asset Skills :
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP);
- Experience in a unionized environment;
- Experience with Workday HRIS.
Salary and Total Rewards :
- Salary Scale, K-level ($57, - $98,;
- Target Hiring Range : $57, - $60,;
- 2-year fixed-term contract that includes : Benefits : Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage; Pension Plan : Eligibility to enroll in the Brock University Pension Plan;
Vacation : Up to 3 weeks of vacation per calendar year, plus university holidays; Flexible Work Arrangement : Eligibility for a hybrid work schedule.
