Job Title
CAD / CAM Technical Specialist (CNC Programming & Manufacturing Technology)
Job Overview
The CAD / CAM Technical Specialist acts as the critical bridge between engineering design and physical production. The primary function of this role is to interpret technical drawings and generate precise digital manufacturing data (G‑Code) to drive production machinery. The specialist works directly on the production floor to program, simulate, and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring that raw materials are converted into finished structural components with zero errors and minimal waste and according to the code.
Responsibilities
Core Manufacturing Programming
- Review complex CAD drawings (2D and 3D) and convert them into machine‑readable cut files (G‑Code) for production.
- Determine the optimal sequence of operations. The specialist must decide whether a job requires the JNTECH Router (for rigid materials like PTFE / Thermal Break) or the Xiao Digital Knife (for soft elastomers / thermal foams).
- Manage the Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) logic. Set up digital tool libraries and verify physical tool rack positions to ensure seamless tool changes during complex multi‑stage jobs.
Specialized Machinery & Controller Management
Configure and troubleshoot the NK105 G2 (DSP) and HC‑203A motion controllers. The specialist must navigate the specific menu structures of these embedded systems to set Work Offsets (G54‑G59) and execute "Breakpoint Resume" functions.Configure WiXHC Core Synthesis systems and Wireless MPG pendants, including setting ISM 433MHZ Frequency Hopping protocols to prevent signal interference on the shop floor.Program patterns for the Xiao Oscillating Knife Machine, operating the MCGS (Monitor and Control Generated System) touch panel to manage unique parameters for knife oscillation and pressure.Program custom function keys (Macro‑1 through Macro‑10) on the controllers to automate repetitive setup tasks specifically for our imported machinery workflow.Specialized Product Fabrication
Program machining operations for Slide Bearings and Elastomeric Laminated Bearings in strict accordance with CSA S6 standards.Develop specific cutting strategies for Virgin and Filled PTFE (Teflon) slide plates to achieve a surface roughness (Ra) of less than 0.25 µm (mirror finish).Quality Assurance & Process Standards
Perform physical verification of initial output parts against engineering specifications to validate dimensional accuracy before mass production begins.Manage digital records that link production files (G‑Code) to raw material batches (Heat Numbers and Batch IDs) to ensure full traceability in compliance with internal quality assurance protocols.Create and maintain detailed Setup Sheets and Tooling Lists for machine operators. Manage strict Version Control workflows.Qualifications
Completion of a college program in manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field; OREquivalent technical experience : Candidates without a formal degree may qualify through a proven combination of industry‑specific training / certification and experience with CNC machinery specifically in the configuration of HC‑203A and NK105 motion controllers, BobCAD‑CAM, Xiao Digital Knife HMI interfaces and the application of CSA S6 bridge bearing tolerances and NBC 2025 Section 9.36.Demonstrated technical proficiency in operating and programming machinery with NK105 (DSP), HC‑203A, WiXHC Wireless, and MCGS interfaces. (A technical portfolio or practical skills test may be requested).Proven ability to configure WiXHC Wireless Protocols and generate complex 5‑Axis tool paths.Specialized proficiency in Oscillating Knife Cutting workflows for the Xiao Digital Cutter, including knife‑pressure calibration and nesting optimization for soft materials.Specific Technical Skills (Required)Advanced proficiency in BobCAD-CAM (Version 33+) and specific training or certification in its latest toolpath strategies.Must have demonstrated ability to program for NK105, HC‑203A, and MCGS HMI systems. Experience limited to standard Fanuc / Haas / Siemens controllers is not sufficient due to the unique operating systems of our equipment. In‑depth knowledge of WiXHC Core Synthesis protocols, including the ability to configure ISM 433MHZ frequency settings and Wireless MPG safety macros.Knowledge of Linear or Carousel Automatic Tool Changer logic, including tool‑height offset programming and sensor parameter configuration.Extensive knowledge of machining PTFE (Teflon), Structural Rubber, Thermal Break, and Elastomers. Must understand feeds / speeds required to prevent melting or deformation of these specific materials.Familiarity with CSA S6 (Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code) fabrication tolerances and NBC 2025 Part 3.Ability to collaborate effectively with production staff in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.Strong technical communication skills to troubleshoot machine errors directly on the shop floor with machine operators.Employment Details
Full‑time, Permanent.Salary : $46.50 per hour.Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 AM Start (Note : Weekend work may be required on an as‑needed basis to meet production deadlines.)How to Apply
