Your opportunity :
The divisional research, analysis and assessment team of the Office of the Vice-President and Principal at UTM conducts data analyses, investigations, research and assessment projects to provide reliable data and meaningful analyses that support data-informed planning, decision-making and continuous improvement at all levels of the university.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Divisional Research, Analysis, and Assessment, you will work to design and coordinate the development of complex statistical analyses that inform critical divisional initiatives undertaken by the Office of the Vice-President and Principal and enable senior leaders to make strategic academic and business-related decisions.
Through the use of data analyses, data visualization tools, and process reviews, our team strives to provide support and informative analytics on procedures, policies and programming to ensure that activities advance UTM’s goals with respect to recruitment strategies, enrolment management plans, department program evaluations and development, and financial plans, etc.
You will participate in writing high-quality reports that convey the information derived from these analyses to a broad range of audiences and design presentations of findings.
You will work as part of a team to develop relationships with cross-functional units, some of which include Academic Units, Financialand Budget Services, Office of Registrar, Office of the Dean, Student Housing and Residence, Student Services, Facilities Management and Planning, Career Centre, Advancement, EASI, U of T Tableau Community, Planning & Budget Office, Community of Institutional Researchers, UTSC Office of Registrar, etc.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Analyzing complex statistical reports and / or financial information for management decision-making
- Assessing and determining methodologies for data retrieval and manipulation
- Facilitating meetings to review data for the purposes of assessing prospect pools and campaign goals
- Conducting detailed data analysis to inform management decision making
- Tracking and collecting information on project progress
- Designing and optimizing databases
- Providing detailed information on data analysis findings to stakeholders
Essential Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and research in a University setting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in a relevant industry / setting.
- Expert knowledge of student information systems such as ROSI / ACORN, Institutional / Divisional databases, etc.
- Advance knowledge of and ability to use analytical tools.
- Solid experience with database design and in programming languages.
- Strong communications skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and efficiently both verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills to permit simultaneous action on many tasks, many of which will demand timely completion.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
