Toromont Cat is looking for a Customs Manager to join our team! This position is responsible for the management, oversight and generally timeliness and compliance of all Customs and Trade, Import and Export activities of primarily Toromont Cat, and Battlefield and CIMCO in a support capacity.

In a typical day, YOU will :
Manage Customs timelines to meet import / export reporting requirements and avoid financial penalties. Ensure timely submission and reconciliation of payment information with Canada Border Services Agency and Toromont Finance. Supervise a team of three in processing.Lead a team of three in processing, auditing, and compliance to fulfill all Customs Self-Assessment (CSA) requirements and minimize interest owed.Ensure timely and accurate declarations, collaborate with IT, E-orders, Accounting, and Tax to support compliance, and document procedures as needed.Ensure timely release of shipments to avoid storage costs. Code and approve invoices from various suppliers (Customs Software, Brokerage, and other service providers).Liaise with CBSA on behalf of Toromont to address Customs concerns as they arise.Respond to inquiries from US Customs and other Participating Government Agencies (e.g., CFIA, NRCAN, ECCC, and Transport Canada) regarding penalties and questions.Oversee the initiation, reporting, and compliance of the Replacement Engine Process for ECCC.Oversee CARM implementation and testing, ensuring database accuracy for Customs and software development needs.Manage the successful migration of all RM extensions (TIL Import Accounts) to the new CARM Client Portal.Serve as the Business Account Manager (BAM) for the CARM Portal, responsible for all TIL Divisions.Administer Customs Bonds, including Release Prior to Payment and US Customs bonds.Develop efficiencies, cross-training, goals, and performance appraisals for direct reports.Support staff needs for hardware, software, and access to online tools (Toromont / CAT / Service Providers).Must-haves for this role :
CCS DesignationCBSA Professional Status preferredKnowledge of the Customs Tariff (Canada and US), Canada Customs Act, Excise Tax Act, and Caterpillar product line.Proficiency in Excel for exporting and analyzing trade data.Experience with specialized software, particularly Descartes, is preferred.Strong understanding of finance and accounting practices.Familiarity with all import and export regulations for Canada.Experience in a CBSA Customs Self Assessment environment is advantageous.Strong organizational skills are essential for managing access to multiple information resources.About Toromont Cat
