Job Title: Registered Nurse – Correctional Health
Location: Maple Ridge, BC
Job Summary
- Provide trauma-informed nursing care to clients with complex physical health, mental health, and substance use needs in a correctional health setting
- Deliver direct clinical care, assessments, and treatments
- Support health promotion using a Trauma-Informed Care framework and an Indigenous Cultural lens
- Ensure patient safety and high-quality care at all times
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical, psychiatric, and substance use assessments
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical protocols
- Triage health service requests and coordinate care and referrals
- Monitor, assess, and document client progress and behavioral changes
- Provide health education and chronic disease management
- Respond to medical and safety emergencies (e.g., Code Blue, Code Yellow)
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper documentation
- Support safe and secure healthcare delivery within a correctional environment
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with BCCNM
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in acute or community nursing, preferably with mental health and/or substance use populations
- Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA II) – Preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification – Required
Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Knowledge of mental health, addictions, communicable diseases, and primary care
- Basic computer proficiency
