Apprentice Mechanics
Purpose : Assist in Repairing, Overhauling, Maintenance and assisting with Servicing of Heavy Equipment.
Key Responsibilities :
- With assistance from a Journeyman Heavy duty mechanic they must learn how to interpret work orders and technical manuals.
- Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained and with guidance assist
Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with diagnosing faults or malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets
manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations.
Write service reports with a Journeyman’s Assistance.
Skills / Abilities :
Strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in
cramped or awkward positions.
- Good vision, hearing and sense of smell for diagnosing problems.
- Mechanical ability and an interest in machinery and engines.
- The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
- Ability to work alone or as a team.
Experience : Minimum one year experience required.
Other : Valid driver's licence, willing to travel, remote locations.
