About the Opportunity
Our client is a not-for-profit organization located southwest of the downtown core. They are looking for a fluently bilingual Paralegal to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Assist managers in mediation and judicial dispute resolutions
- Research records, case files, and other legal documents
- Assemble documentary evidence and prepare trial briefs
- Draft legal correspondence and perform general office duties
- Interview clients and witnesses
- Provide legal administrative support by drafting and proofreading various documents
- Liaise with courts and tribunals, maintain and organize files
- Attend arbitration, mediation hearings, and collective bargaining negotiations
- Prepare non-financial regulatory compliance filings and conduct due diligence research
- Monitor legislative requirements and recommend updates to HR policies
- Analyze data from various sources to create business-facing deliverables
- Provide data and analysis in response to requests from Senior Management
- Participate on cross-functional teams and other special projects
About You
The successful candidate will have the following :
Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma or Certificate in a relevant area of study and holding a relevant legal designation (e.g. Paralegal)Fluent bilingualism (French and English) is required3+ years of experience in employment and labour fieldExperience in HR compliance / case management would be considered an assetKnowledge of industry trends, developments, and employment-related laws in Ontario and QuebecKnowledge of basic statistical math with the ability to create mathematical formulas within Microsoft Excel or other systems to support data analysisMust have or be able to obtain a Secret level security clearanceOccasional travel is requiredExcellent analytical and problem solving skills with a proactive mindsetIntermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office programsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and navigate multiple tasksExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of working stylesStrong analytical skills to audit and verify compliance data and offer solutionsExcellent interpersonal, relationship building and customer service skillsStrong attention to detail with commitment to high-quality, accurate workHandling of confidential information in an ethical and professional mannerSelf-Management - Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently to achieve resultsFamiliarity working with the HRTO, WSIB, MOL and arbitration and collective bargaining proceduresAbout the Job
