Job Description
This is a Temporary Full Time assignment for up to approximately eighteen () months.
For clinicians who want to deepen their focus in orthopaedic sports medicine, this position offers a blend of surgical exposure, clinic responsibility, and operational influence. As a Physician Assistant at Dovigi Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Clinic, you will accelerate your development by collaborating with surgeons who perform some of the country’s most advanced reconstructive and joint preservation procedures. The role lets you develop beyond task-based support into a true physician extender, trusted to help shape patient-centred care through efficient triaging, thoughtful management of treatment plans, and clear patient education when questions arise. Practicing under medical directives from a supervising physician, you will have a defined framework that supports meaningful autonomy without sacrificing safety or support. This balance of guidance and independence creates a strong platform to grow your confidence and clinical judgement in sports-focused musculoskeletal care.
Is this you?
Strong clinical judgement guides your approach to each patient encounter, whether you’re tasked with conducting comprehensive assessments or executing treatment plans within established medical directives. A proficiency in diagnostics, minor procedures, and hands-on interventions allows you to bridge immediate needs with longer-term recovery goals. Effective problem-solving shines through when dissecting complex cases or refining approaches based on new information, always in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. This clinical acumen will help in the delivery of efficient, high-quality care in a complex orthopaedic environment.
Equally important is your ability to communicate with clarity and empathy. Whether explaining complex treatment plans, clarifying post-operative protocols, or answering patient questions, you excel at translating medical jargon into clear, reassuring language for patients. You apply the same precision when coordinating with surgeons, sports medicine physicians, rehabilitation specialists, and administrative colleagues, which helps keep stakeholders aligned on care plans and next steps. Your ability to listen actively and respond thoughtfully elevates both patient experience and team performance.
Time management and operational awareness are essential strengths that guide your day-to-day practice. Your strengths in anticipating workflow challenges and proactively adjusting schedules or protocols will maintain clinic flow and minimize wait times. Your operational expertise allows you to identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve throughput while maintaining patient-centred care standards. This helps the entire care team function more effectively and patients access timely, coordinated services, amplifying your impact beyond individual patient care.
