About The Role
We are seeking a hands‑on Controller to join our Finance & Accounting team as a senior member. This role will own the preparation of consolidated financial statements, lead the monthly close process, and produce board‑level financial reporting that includes thoughtful analysis and clear insights. The Controller will be directly involved in day‑to‑day accounting and reporting while also helping improve processes, systems, and controls as the business grows. The ideal candidate is comfortable partnering cross‑functionally and leading key finance initiatives, including the implementation of a new billing system.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with support from the accounting team
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, including intercompany eliminations where applicable
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
Board & Management Reporting
Personally prepare the monthly board reporting package, including consolidated financial statements, variance analysis and key insights, and commentary that clearly explains performance and trendsPartner with leadership to ensure financial information supports decision‑makingSystems & Process Improvement
Lead the implementation of a new billing system, ensuring proper integration with accounting systems, accurate revenue recognition and AR workflows, and strong controls and data integrityIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, close timelines, and reporting qualitySupport ongoing system enhancements and automation initiativesAccounting Operations
Oversee core accounting functions including general ledger, revenue and AR, AP and accruals, and payroll and taxes (HST, corporate filings, etc.)Be hands‑on where needed : posting entries, reviewing reconciliations, and resolving issuesTeam & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Act as a senior member of the finance team and mentor junior team members as applicableWork closely with operations, sales, and leadership to ensure financial alignmentLiaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors as neededEssential Skills & Qualifications
CPA designation (or near completion)5+ years of progressive experience in accounting & financeStrong experience preparing consolidated financial statementsProven ability to own the close end‑to‑endExperience implementing or significantly upgrading financial or billing systemsComfortable working in a hands‑on, execution‑focused roleAdditional Preferred Qualifications
