Report Writer (Contaminated Sites Specialist)

OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Report Writer (Contaminated Sites Specialist) to join our team in Sherwood Park or Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the completion of projects primarily for Oil and Gas clients in accordance with Vertex guidelines / protocols and project scopes. This ideal candidate will have proven experience in Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), Tier 1 and Tier 2 approaches (including the Subsoil Salinity Tool), for contaminated sites closure and Remediation. This individual will play a critical role in the execution of all aspects of the project while delivering a cost-effective approach that exceeds our client’s expectations. This is an office-based position with the opportunity to work from home on occasion (hybrid model).

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma or higher education related to environmental sciences, toxicology, or other related discipline, with a professional designation (or be eligible for a designation in the near-term) for AB (BC and SK considered an asset)

Minimum 5 years of reporting environmental work experience in the following areas : Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments

Remediation

Groundwater monitoring and sampling

Alberta Tier 2 approaches including recalculation of soil and groundwater remediation guidelines, justification letters, and screening level and quantitative environmental risk assessments (ERAs)

Exposure control via risk management measures

Record of Site Condition OneStop submissions

RESPONSIBILITIES

Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessment Reports (senior review)

Remediation Reports (author and senior review)

Water well and groundwater assessments

Regulatory submissions

LOCATION

This is an office based position that will be based either out of our Sherwood Park or Calgary, Alberta offices or surrounding areas.
