Senior Web Designer

Location : Remote (Full-time), Open to Candidates from South Africa and LATAM

Working Hours : 9 AM - 5 PM Eastern Time (M-F, 6 hours overlap for South Africa; LATAM will be full overlap)

About Our Client

We are looking for a Senior Web Designer to lead the charge in creating modern, high-performing website designs. This role requires someone with a deep understanding of Figma, UX / UI best practices, and SEO-driven design to craft wireframes and clickable prototypes that work seamlessly across both desktop and mobile. We work with a diverse range of clients, including restaurants, law firms, marketing agencies, accounting firms, beer companies, and literature companies. We are seeking a Senior Web Designer to join our team and elevate our design quality to a top-tier level. This role will replace our current outsourced design service, ensuring consistency, creativity, and excellence in our web design projects.

Role Overview

As a Senior Web Designer, you will be responsible for designing visually stunning and high-converting websites tailored to a variety of industries. You will have direct communication with clients, working collaboratively to create engaging, innovative, and user-friendly digital experiences. We are looking for someone with a consultative approach and strong client communication skills, particularly with leadership teams. The ideal candidate will be proactive in seeking clarifications and ensuring design feedback is accurately translated into action. The role will also emphasize preparation and strategy, including branding, wireframing, and utilizing insights from pre-discovery processes to inform design decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Design high-converting website layouts with a focus on user experience and performance.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and design systems in Figma that align with both aesthetic and functional goals.
  • Implement SEO-friendly design principles, including proper H1-H6 header structuring and content hierarchy.
  • Collaborate with clients to define design requirements, incorporating feedback, and developing solutions that best represent their brand.
  • Be part of leadership calls with clients to bridge the communication gap and ask clarifying questions, ensuring an accurate understanding of the design vision.
  • Provide strategic guidance on branding and design approaches, based on past successes and pre-discovery insights.
  • Stay ahead of modern design trends and technologies, ensuring our websites remain cutting-edge.
  • Work closely with developers to bridge the gap between design and functionality.
  • Optimize designs for speed, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Design and develop highly creative and innovative websites, ensuring a premium aesthetic (Apple-level quality).
  • Work across multiple industries, understanding unique brand needs and adapting design strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain design consistency across pages, ensuring all elements are aligned with the client's brand identity.
  • Apply strong UX / UI principles to enhance usability and customer engagement.
  • Develop designs optimized for WordPress and HubSpot CMS platforms.
  • Ensure efficient project turnaround while maintaining high-quality standards.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of web design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing modern, high-quality designs.
  • Expertise in Figma and experience with prototyping interactive user flows.
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and how they impact website structure and design.
  • A solid grasp of responsive design principles and best practices for mobile-first layouts.
  • Ability to collaborate with developers to ensure designs are implemented effectively.
  • Strong understanding of UX / UI best practices and conversion-focused design.
  • Experience designing across multiple industries with a keen eye for brand identity.
  • Proficiency in WordPress and HubSpot CMS for seamless design implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong command of the English language (C1 level or higher) to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
