Job description

OVERVIEW

The Ward Aide enhances the quality of patient-centered care by working as a member of the Health Care Team to provide a variety of support services to the team and patients. The Ward Aide receives direction and guidance from the Health Care Team in order to determine tasks requiring immediate attention. The Ward Aide participates in direct and indirect patient care activities in order to carry out the interprofessional care plan.

EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of recent relevant work experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with emergency equipment and stocking knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) required.
  • Demonstrated professional and respectful interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and the willingness to work effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent level of productivity and efficiency as it relates to patient-focused care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet physical requirements specified in the Physical Demands Analysis; work is moderately heavy involving lifting, considerable walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Excellent work and attendance record required.
