Primary Responsibilities
- Develop safe engineering solutions through design problem analysis and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects.
- Assist project / operations management in meeting safety cost quality and schedule targets by proposing plan changes recommending contractor payments preparing progress reports and coordinating work schedules
- Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies analysis exercising judgment in information selection and recommending safe engineering designs
- Contribute to CIMAs engineering practices by conducting studies developing technical standards exercising judgment in information evaluation recommending designs and providing guidance to other engineers
- Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients establishing design criteria approving technical documentation and assessing / reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe quality budgetcompliant and timely project completion
- Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment
- Prepare project documentation like reports specifications proposals estimates design basis and test plans per CIMAs practices
- Develop design work packages with scope duration and effort estimates and manage design tasks including scope schedule and cost for existing and new facilities
- Provide signed / sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per EGBC and CIMAs practices
- Offer technical assistance construction support and field reviews as required
- Perform structural design analysis and detailing for structures associated with transmission underground cables (including potheads concrete vaults cable duct banks) and transmission submarine cables (including terminations and potheads)
- Apply loads design criteria seismic analysis per regulatory and industry standards considering associated civil mechanical electrical systems like foundations lightning protection conductors and hardware
Qualifications :
University Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent experienceMinimum of five (5) years of experience and a history of working in Transmission projects.Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in BC / Canada or eligible for registration in BCProficient in design / analysis software and CAD systems along with familiarity of drawing standardsProficiency with MS Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint)Excellent communication abilities in English written and verbalExperience in design tasks including scope schedule and cost controlThe expected salary for this position is from $100000 to $120000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidates experience training skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
