Reporting to the Founder & President, the Vice President of Merchandising will lead the merchandising and buying function, responsible for spearheading the development and execution of cutting-edge product and merchandising strategies that drive profitable, sustainable growth across all channels as we expand our product offerings and global footprint.

This role is crucial in refining our product assortment, ensuring it aligns with Knix’s brand identity and resonates with our consumers.

You will be responsible for creating a clear and coherent merchandising hierarchy and product architecture, optimizing the product assortment, and leading strategic product planning efforts for all product lines and categories.

You will also help ensure that our product offerings maintain a consistent visual identity across all channels, supporting Knix’s long-term business objectives.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for meaningful merchandising and product strategies, committed to driving brand differentiation, customer satisfaction, and achieving Knix’s ambitious growth objectives.

Overview :

There are 4 main areas of responsibility for this role today, with endless opportunities to shape the future of this function :

1) Strategic Leadership and Execution :

  • Craft, lead, and execute innovative merchandising initiatives that align with Knix’s business and financial goals.
  • Lead the ongoing development of a 3-year product roadmap, focusing on long-range product planning and alignment with Knix’s business objectives.
  • Facilitate the creation of strategic plans for new product launches, specifically focusing on expanding the Kt by Knix product offering.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the merchandising function aligns with the overall strategic planning process.

2) Product Assortment and Optimization :

  • Streamline and optimize the product assortment to enhance the shopping experience and overall brand experience.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis to identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities within the current product range, providing targeted recommendations for improvement.
  • Establish a structured and coherent merchandising hierarchy and product architecture that supports strategic product planning and provides a framework for new product launches.

3) Team Leadership and Development :

  • Lead and develop a high-performing merchandising and buying team, providing guidance and training to enhance skills and foster effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Assess team structure and performance, driving continuous improvement and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Foster strong relationships to effectively lead and support the merchandising and buying team, ensuring clear communication and alignment on deliverables.

4) Cross-functional Collaboration :

  • Partner with Product Design, Planning, Allocation, Retail, Brand, and Commercial teams to maximize in-season sales performance.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective product marketing that communicates the unique value propositions of new products.
  • Ensure that product offerings align with Knix’s distinctive brand voice and maintain a consistent visual identity across all channels.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience as an innovative merchandising leader in a high-growth apparel brand with an omnichannel presence;

experience in Active or Intimate Apparel preferred.

  • Proven track record in developing and executing multi-year business strategies that drive significant growth.
  • Strong leadership background with the ability to build architecture and structure for the Merchandising function.
  • Deep background and knowledge of product development and planning, with an eye for cutting-edge merchandising strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financials, gross margin, and sales analysis.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment with rapidly changing priorities.
