Description
About the Role
Our client is seeking an intermediate‑level Engineering Coordinator to support major EPC programs within the utility interconnect and renewable‑energy space. This role is positioned within the pre‑construction management team and requires strong technical capability, hands‑on engineering coordination, and the ability to interface seamlessly across multiple stakeholders.
The Engineering Coordinator acts as the technical bridge between third‑party engineering firms, our client’s internal pre‑construction team, and the customer. This individual must understand utility‑scale design and construction well enough to identify issues, validate correctness of engineering deliverables, and ensure that engineering is progressing accurately and on schedule.
This is a growth‑oriented position suited for someone early‑to‑mid career who is driven, detail‑oriented, and looking to develop into an Engineering Manager over time.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Coordination & Technical Oversight
Interface between third‑party engineering partners, our client’s pre‑construction team, and the project owner.
Interpret and review engineering drawings with enough understanding to recognize technical accuracy and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
Work with the third‑party engineer to drive the engineering schedule, ensuring all design milestones are met.
Understand utility interconnection requirements and the associated technologies to make informed assessments of engineering decisions.
Vendor & Deliverable Management
Coordinate with vendors on shop drawings, ensuring completeness, correctness, and alignment with project specifications.
Manage comment logs, RFIs, and review cycles between the customer, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure all engineering comments are tracked, addressed, and closed out properly to avoid downstream design issues.
Customer & Stakeholder Interface
Communicate with the owner’s engineering representatives to resolve questions, address comments, and clarify design expectations.
Maintain transparent documentation and provide ongoing updates regarding engineering progress and outstanding items.
Construction & Field Awareness
Apply practical knowledge of construction practices to identify risks or constructability concerns early in the engineering cycle.
When required, support field teams by understanding site realities and incorporating relevant considerations into design coordination.
Support Through Startup & Commissioning
Participate in early‑stage startup coordination and understand the end‑to‑end lifecycle of utility‑scale energy facilities.
Support project managers in achieving COD‑readiness, ensuring engineering deliverables align with commissioning and performance testing requirements.
