The Team
Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice is comprised of over 600 sector experts and specialized consultants across the Globe. We combine strategic and operational expertise with a deep technical knowledge to support developers, sponsors, lenders, and projects leader to select, structure, improve and execute Capital Projects in a more efficient and sustainable way.
The Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer is responsible for overseeing all mechanical and piping engineering activities for the project, ensuring technical execution, quality compliance, and seamless integration with other engineering disciplines and project functions. The incumbent leads a multidisciplinary mechanical and piping team, ensuring efficient execution, adherence to best practices, and achievement of project objectives.
This role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and proactive problem-solving to optimize mechanical and piping deliverables while mitigating risks and maintaining schedule integrity.
How you will contribute
Develop and oversee mechanical and piping engineering execution plans, ensuring alignment with overall project goals and engineering strategies.
Plan and direct mechanical and piping engineering personnel deployment, ensuring adequate resources to meet project demands.
Lead technical coordination across mechanical systems and piping design activities to drive efficiency, constructability, and consistency.
Ensure timely preparation, review, and approval of mechanical and piping engineering deliverables, including specifications, datasheets, layouts, and design calculations.
Oversee the development of technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI).
Coordinate mechanical and piping activities to maintain scope, budget, and schedule adherence.
Collaborate closely with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to resolve technical challenges, support vendor selection, and optimize execution strategies.
Provide technical oversight during fabrication, installation, and construction phases to ensure compliance with mechanical and piping design intent.
Support piping material selection, stress analysis, equipment layout, and interface management with other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation).
Implement and enforce quality assurance and quality control processes in accordance with regulatory requirements and project specifications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree is considered an asset.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a lead mechanical and/or piping engineering role on large-scale capital or EPC projects.
Demonstrated experience leading mechanical and piping engineering teams in an EPC or owner/operator environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping design, applicable codes and standards, and industry best practices.
Proficiency in mechanical and piping design tools, engineering software, and project execution methodologies.
Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues and make sound engineering decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.

The salary range is $142,400 - $175,300 CAD annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
