Position Summary

We are seeking a Casual Electrocardiogram (ECG) Assistant at Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, BC.

Days of work : Rotating, Days, Monday to Friday

Shift times : 08 : 00 to 16 : 00

What will you work on?

This position performs electrocardiogram (ECG) testing and assists with stress testing, holter monitoring and other related procedures as required. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Some Key Duties may include :

• Explains procedures to prepare patients for ECG and related tests and answers related questions; obtains patient information and enters data into the operating system; performs ECG testing by attaching electrodes to the patient and operating equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Monitors ECG test for artifacts and other anomalies and readjusts electrodes or patient position to ensure accurate test results are obtained.
• Reviews ECG printout in accordance with established guidelines and notifies ordering physician and / or other medical staff as required; transmits test results for interpretation by medical staff.
• Explains procedures for holter monitoring, stress testing and related procedures and assists Technologists by performing duties such as preparing patients for tests / procedures by applying electrodes and operating ECG equipment during stress testing and related procedures.
• Performs related clerical functions such as answering the telephone, logging order entry, downloading electrocardiograph information, and assisting with electronic storage of ECG files.
• Monitors supply stocks and advises supervisor of items for ordering.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications

Grade 12 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
