Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Coordinator is an in-scope position reporting to the Director, Marketing, Information Technology & Innovation or designate. The Marketing Coordinator will develop and execute comprehensive marketing, communications, and event strategies. This role is responsible for ensuring all marketing initiatives align with the Northlands College brand, strategic priorities, and departmental goals. The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with various internal stakeholders and community partners to deliver impactful campaigns, coordinate events, and maintain a consistent and engaging digital and print presence which build the Northlands College brand and support recruitment and retention initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marketing Coordinator duties include, but are not limited to :

  • Assist in the development of internal and external ongoing communication strategies for the College initiatives and coordinate execution of same.
  • Maintain the College’s visual identity by coordination of professional materials orders; evaluation of marketing materials prepared at the campus level; adherence to college branding guidelines in all advertising and marketing materials produced.
  • Lead the creation of and the updating of marketing materials such as posters, banners, digital content, and promotional graphics.
  • Lead the maintenance and evolution of college website & social media accounts.
  • Implement paid media campaigns on social media and Google.
  • Lead the development and implementation of marketing plans.
  • Plan and coordinate events and activities, working collaboratively with on-campus departments and off-campus community partners.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor the advertising budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and provincial media, including vendor negotiations.
  • Oversee the management of digital repositories to maintain up-to-date content for recurring events and projects.
  • Design and execute the annual report, ensuring projects meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Oversee Rock Shop operations : Manage day-to-day operations, inventory, merchandising, online store maintenance, and promotional activities for the Rock Shop.
  • Oversee and guide the Digital Media Specialist ensuring clear communication, professional development, and performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for recruitment, retention, training and supervision for staff within the department.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written, verbal and presentation.
  • A solid understanding of marketing principles & best practices.
  • An aptitude for preparing and delivering public presentations.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and to take initiative.
  • Competency with WordPress, HTML / XHTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript & ActionScript.
  • Competent and skilled with photography and videography.
  • Strong design skills using Adobe creative suite (in-design, illustrator, photoshop)
  • Experience in implementing paid social media campaigns.
  • Proven ability with website management, content management systems and current social media
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies impacting marketing and student recruitment
  • Knowledge of reconciliation strategies and northern Saskatchewan’s socio-economic landscape.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed previously, the Marketing Coordinator should have :

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, media studies, or related discipline with a major concentration in marketing and communications. This education would provide knowledge in marketing, communications, multi-media, administration, and research skills.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of marketing related experience working with digital, radio, television and print media.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing plans, multi-media design and use and implementing paid digital campaigns.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexibility to work evenings, and willing to travel including overnight stays, air travel, and travel on gravel roads.
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
  • A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.
