About This Opportunity
This clinic is seeking 0.2 FTE (approx. 1 day a week) physician to join its team. The panel size is approximately 300 patients who have been well cared for by the retiring physician.
This is a multi-disciplinary group that includes one Nurse Practitioner, one Family Practice Nurse, two other Physicians, a Pediatrician, Admins, one Social Worker, and one Dietician.
The practice has full coverage in place within my practice or practice group within the community for planned or unplanned absences.
The practice offers limited or some urgent or same day access. Wait times are generally 2-3 weeks. This practice does not participate in any after hours care.
Accuro is the EMR in use, and the practice utilizes full IT support (i.e. booking patients, emails to patients, etc).
Payment is through the Longitudinal Family Medicine model (LFM).
Sub-rural community is made up of predominately people of African Nova Scotian Descent. Community is on a bus route. Has access to limited resources such as grocery stores, work, jobs etc.
Community has a relatively large older population with many seniors.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
Act as a patient’s advocate
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours
Part time - 1 day a week.
Qualifications
Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
