This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $24.65 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

Responsibilities

• Department Management : Oversee the day-to-day operations of the produce department, ensure the department is well-stocked, clean, and organized, develop and implement procedures for efficient management, assist with merchandising, receiving product, rotating product, and organizing product in the backroom and cooler.
• Staff Supervision : Recruit, train, and supervise produce department staff, schedule employees and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, monitor staff performance and provide feedback or coaching as needed.
• Inventory Control : Manage inventory levels, ensure adequate stocking, monitor product quality and freshness, remove expired or damaged items, place orders for produce and coordinate deliveries with suppliers.
• Merchandising and Display : Create visually appealing displays to attract customers, plan and execute seasonal promotions and special displays, ensure that all products are properly labeled with prices and product information.
• Customer Service : Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints, assist customers with product selection and provide information about produce, ensure that the department provides excellent customer service at all times.
• Budget and Financial Management : Manage the department’s budget and control expenses, monitor sales and adjust inventory levels based on demand, analyze financial reports and take corrective actions as needed.
• Compliance and Safety : Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, implement and enforce food safety and sanitation procedures, conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards.
• Collaboration and Communication : Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth store operations, communicate with store management about department performance and needs, participate in store meetings and contribute to overall store strategy.
