Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide support to the operation of the manufacturing plant in areas of facility systems, maintenance, production, quality and new product development and launch.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop concepts, detailed CAD models in Solidworks, engineering drawings and documentation
- Select appropriate materials, fabrication methods and off-the-shelf components
- Troubleshoot failures, perform root cause analysis and iterate designs to resolve issues
- Communicate changes / improvements made to equipment
- Works hands-on to build prototypes, test rigs and experimental set-ups
- Collaborates with the production and maintenance teams to provide day-to-day expertise / technical support with a focus on safety, reliability and cost reduction
- Troubleshoot problems that arise in production related to production, support and facility equipment
- Develop, lead and support capital improvement projects including new equipment purchases, equipment upgrades, and automation
- Contribute to project management : activity planning, schedule tracking, risk management, progress reporting, and adherence to safety, people, quality, delivery and cost objectives
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, legislation and applicable codes
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, P.Eng designation preferredMinimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with a focus on plant engineeringStrong knowledge of hydraulic systems and manufacturing processesExposure to air compressors, chillers, cooling towers preferrableExposure to automation, robotics or material handling systemsExcellent analytical, problem solving and communication skillsComfortable working on the plant floor and collaborating with cross-functional teamsCompetencies

Work Environment :
This job operates in a production manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard production equipment.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :
Salary, primarily 8 hours / day, Monday to Friday. However additional hours may be required occasionally, including after-hours support for a 24 / 7 manufacturing operation.
Travel :
Occasionally - ability to travel within and outside of Canada.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience :
Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Applied Science, or Engineering Technologist diploma or 5+ years experienceReads and understands technical drawings, technical bulletins, equipment manuals. Familiar with relevant legislation and standards, including ESA, M.O.L. regulations and CSA safety standards.Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, proficient in the English language, and able to lead and influence others.Proficient in Microsoft Office, Solidworks, AutoCADKnowledge of ergonomic assessments requiredPreferred Education, Skills, and Experience :
