Job descriptionDaily Groundskeeping & Landscaping. Facility Maintenance (painting, drywalling, repairs in guestrooms and other hostel areas). Performing regular preventative maintenance in line with our maintenance schedules. Troubleshooting and resolving plumbing issues. Maintaining and troubleshooting sewage pumps. Experience is an asset, but training is provided. Maintaining and tuning up our rental bike fleet. Support with housekeeping during busy days and other duties as needed. Previous hands-on maintenance or renovation experience (think : the wide range of skills involved in flipping a house). Confident and safe operation of power tools and equipment. Solid basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. Great attention to detail with a practical, can-do approach to tasks. Good mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting a variety of issues. Starting wage : 21CAD / hour Full-Time (30-40 hours per week and a schedule that ensures a great work-life balance) 4% vacation pay and Extended Health Benefits Affordable staff accommodation Lots of amazing perks : Free bike rentals, Free HI membership, complimentary stays at other HI hostels (availability permitting), discounts on surf lessons and adventure tours (hot springs, bear watching, whale watching, kayaking).
