Palliative Care Physician

Job Description

• Physicians provide consult services in palliative care at St. Paul’s Hospital and Royal University Hospital, with future coverage anticipated for Saskatoon City Hospital. Consults are also provided in patients’ homes and at an outpatient clinic at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Physician coverage is provided to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital.
• Physicians work as part of a multidisciplinary team which may include nurse coordinators, nurses, social workers, therapists, pharmacists, and spiritual care practitioners.
• Rotation commitment is one week at a time and may vary from a half day per day to full days.
• Number of weeks per month may vary depending on program need.
• On-call requirements are proportional to the number of weeks worked.

Job Qualifications

• Current Saskatchewan medical licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan
• Ability to obtain and maintain membership on the Saskatchewan Health Authority Practitioner Staff
• Experience and commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team
• LEAP course through Pallium Canada (Core preferred)
• Advanced certification in Palliative Care (CCFP-PC or FRCPC in Palliative Medicine) preferred but not required
