Early Childcare Educator (Emergency Childcare Staff)

We are seeking qualified Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to provide emergency staffing support to nurseries  and daycare centres across Toronto. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for early childhood education  who are flexible and can respond quickly to staffing needs. Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and supervision for children in nursery or daycare settings.
• Support the delivery of age-appropriate learning activities and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
• Collaborate with daycare / nursery staff to ensure smooth transitions and consistent care during emergency cover periods.
• Creates a stimulating and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, ensuring the safety of children enrolled in the program through direct supervision, and attendance protocols;
• Participates and engages in all activities with the children;
• Updates, develops and ensures positive, professional communication with parents / families, community partners, outside agencies, co-workers and support staff, an on an ongoing basis;
• Supports staff and classrooms as needed (e.g. staff breaks, programming time, etc.);
• Ensures classroom environment is kept clean and neat, including all activity and program areas, and common spaces, including toy washing and sanitizing;
• Ensures that written records are accurately documented and maintained including attendance records, symptoms of ill health, daily classroom logs, etc.;
• Complies with the Child Care Early Years Act
• Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;
• Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships Essential Requirements
• Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification : Must be certified to work in Ontario.
• Early Childhood Education : Completion of 2 years’ college
• Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check) : Required to ensure child safety.
• First Aid & CPR Certification : Mandatory, with an additional bonus for First Aid & CPR (Infant) certification or willingness to obtain at own cost.
• Experience : Previous experience in childcare or nursery settings is essential
• Checks : Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost;
• Medical : Must provide a TB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations; Additional
• Having a car : Highly advantageous for traveling to different nurseries and daycare centres within Toronto on short notice.
