We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Plant Electrical Planner. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out position and will be based in Labrador West, NL. This position will be Monday – Friday.
Job Responsibilities:
•Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for industrial purposes
•Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
•Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities within the mine to ensure compliance with specifications, & codes
•Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
•Provide technical assistance to field personnel in the areas of high voltage distribution equipment, high voltage motors/generators & transmission lines
•Respond and provide technical assistance to electrical equipment problems within the company-owned facilities
•Direct and oversee vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and mobile equipment to ensure quality workmanship
•Issue repair reports after critical jobs for proper historical documentation
•Identify engineered resolutions to recurring electrical issues
•Improve equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures
•Lead and participate in Failure Analysis and Vulnerability studies
•Execute equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive)
•Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
•Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
•Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
•Creation of shutdown schedules from a planning & scheduling perspective for the mine electrical department.
•Monitor, review, plan & schedule work identified by operational & maintenance field crews
Skills and Qualifications:
•Working knowledge of open pit mining operations including maintenance, safety, equipment, and staff utilization
•Previous experience in an electrical maintenance or mobile maintenance role is considered an asset
•Experience with power distribution systems up & transmission lines up to 46KV is considered an asset
•Previous experience with electrically powered mobile equipment such as Drills, Shovels & Haul Trucks is considered an asset
•Project management experience with the ability to meet deadlines
•Experience in document control systems
•Demonstrated experience with CMMS software & MS Project is an asset
•Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees
•Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
•Comfortable with a fast-paced environment
•Excellent work ethic, and attendance record
Education:
•Red Seal Electrician or Electrical Engineering Technologist
•Power Line Technician Certification (Asset)
License:
•Class 5 Driver’s License
