Job description

Department : Quality Engineering Reports to : Manager, Manufacturing Quality Location : New Westminster Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX : As a Quality Engineer, Raw Material & Pre-Production, your main duty is to develop, implement and optimize inspection methodologies to ensure the quality and compliance of our incoming RM and pre-production assembled parts. The role focuses on establishing testing protocols, conducting inspections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to prevent & resolve quality issues. You are the interface between the supplier and ARC’One and a change agent capable of taking ownership of our incoming material quality, thereby affecting the rest of the downstream teams in ARC’One. Meet Your Future Team : The Quality team is responsible for quality control throughout the entire manufacturing process – from the raw materials coming into the facility and finished goods leaving the facility. You will work within the Quality team and cross-functionally as a change agent among all departments at ARC’One. Your influence has no boundaries as you will collaborate with other Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Leaders, Production Planning team, and more to improve our quality processes.

If you were our Quality Engineer, here are some of the core activities you would be doing :

  • Take product ownership of quality processes spanning Supplier Quality, New Product Introduction, and Bulk Production, primarily but not limited to Raw Materials & Assembled parts
  • Develop, define and standardize incoming materials inspection standards to document, train, and implement such standards
  • Create robust inspection plans in our QMS supply chain system to allow for data collection and analysis
  • Develop our PPAP program to validate new raw materials and parts every season
  • Problem solve with Engineering, QA, QC and Production to drive non-conformance to full resolution while documenting learnings
  • Develop internal KPIs and create dashboards using data to drive meaningful action
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers, address any quality-related issues, identify risks in the supply chain, and implement improvements
  • Implement new tooling, equipment, and samples to help improve our incoming material quality control
  • Identify improvements that enable quality product delivering on-time and at cost
  • Work with downstream production teams to better understand the root cause of material and / or production defects
  • Liaise with our raw material suppliers to initiate product returns and manage product recalls

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future :

  • Developing our process and becoming a subject matter expert in the latest quality inspection technology
  • Explore ways to improve our raw material storage and efficiency in raw material inspection
  • Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the NPI lifecycle on newly qualified parts from NPI
  • Work cross-functionally with our design, development, compliance, and upstream quality teams

  • You have 3+ years of experience in manufacturing with a focus on quality and / or compliance preferably in the apparel industry
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven track record to effectively engage both internal and external stakeholders
  • You have previous experiences in 6S, continuous improvement, and LEAN manufacturing
  • You have strong data analytical skills and experience with basic analytical platforms (PowerBI, Smartsheet, Excel, SQL)
  • You can embrace the ambiguity. You are flexible and you know how to initiate action. You have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Building relationships is your other strength. Youcanbalanceautonomyandcollaborationwithstronginterpersonalskills and with ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and professionalism.
  • You have a proven track record of sound judgment, by working independently to achieve success with minimal guidance. You skillfully navigate conversations to influence change and achieve results.
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what’s right
  • You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration

  • Assets :

  • Formal certification in Lean Six Sigma
  • Previous experience in an ISO9001 environment
  • Experience with CAD software
  • 80,000 - $100,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$80,000 - CAD$100,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and / or training.Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
