    Registered Practical Nurses provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness.

    Please note that this position is for agency staffing support with the potential of homecare services.

  • The role will include :
  • In collaboration with the patient / family / caregiver and other health care professionals, help formulate a plan of care based on patient assessment.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plan(s) and adjust accordingly in consultation with the patient / family / caregiver and other health care professionals.
  • Act as a patient advocate by protecting and promoting patient rights.
  • Travel within your region between patients' homes
  • Providing services in a variety of settings which may include in-home, clinic, retirement home, or school
  • Performing other clinical duties as required
  • Experience in wound care, IV medications and re-sites, catheter care, compression / VAC, and ostomy care considered an asset
  • Delegate as required within your scope of practice
  • Qualifications

  • Diploma from a recognized RPN program or equivalent
  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience as a visiting nurse, visiting registered nurse, visiting registered practical nurse, and / or community nurse is considered an asset
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear criminal background checks and Vulnerable sector checks are required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful, and courteous manner
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and crisis-resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid G2 / G driver's license and access to a reliable car is an asset
  • Experience in pediatrics is an asset
  • Ability to use phone applications
  • Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check  completed within the last six months
  • Submission of proof of  three COVID vaccinations
  • TB test completed  within 6 months to a year
  • Immunization record
  • Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
  • Mask Fit
