As a Branch Manager :

You will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of financial services professionals while supporting Meridian's strategic objectives. This will include an understanding of branch operations, lending, deposits, investments, wealth, small business and Member Experience.

You will influence and implement the business plans of Meridian in conjunction with the District Vice President (DVP). You will support portfolio growth by promoting Meridian’s profile and expanding our local market share.

You will work alongside and align financial strategies and activities to support Meridian’s internal business partners – Wealth, Small Business, Mobile Mortgage Specialists and approved external partners to ensure valuable delivery of Member centric products / solutions.

Member Experience

  • Fosters and promotes Meridian’s Member Experience strategies while envisioning new ways to add value for current and future Members.
  • Recognizes and rewards phenomenal service in action.
  • Empowers the team to resolve escalated Member Concerns and creates action plans to avoid issues in the future.
  • Ensures that branch staff receive proper training to demonstrate abilities to sell and cross-sell products and services that meet individual Member needs.
  • Provides recommendations to the DVP to support the continuous enhancement of the Member Experience while leveraging employee and Member insights.

Employee Experience

  • Unleashes the ability of each person through coaching to improve performance, solve problems, and grow careers.
  • Demonstrates openness to new ideas by facilitating open dialogue where all are included, as well as promoting entrepreneurial growth mindsets amongst the team.
  • Fosters individual learning and development to align with Meridian core competencies and values while delivering on action plans aligned with Employee Engagement results.
  • Establishes and maintains efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, and performance standards.
  • Strategic Initiatives

  • Leads branch activities in support of expanding the Member relationship and growing share of wallet.
  • Ensures appropriate focus, integration, and relationship building with business partners in Commercial, Wealth and Small Business within the market.
  • Builds and maintains strong partner relationships with key corporate support partners.
  • Provides feedback to assist with the evaluation of new programs, channels, and technologies.
  • Cascades communication of the strategic direction & priorities of the organization to branch staff.
  • Remains current with industry knowledge and effectively shapes Meridian’s role, reputation, and brand in the industry.
  • Working with the DVP, focuses on strategies to ensure continued momentum across Meridian including Omni-channel integration.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of business plans for the branch.
  • Operations – Planning, Metrics and Reporting

  • Maintains all risk controls and audit functions to ensure the branch is aligned with policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and completes branch activity reports, including staffing, loan and deposit growth, overdrafts, losses, and audits to meet profit and performance objectives.
  • Sets long and short-term business development objectives with DVP to ensure achievement of growth.
  • Connects with internal and external partners to meet and exceed business objectives.
  • Participates in the annual branch planning and target setting process.
  • Community Experience

  • Support local community organizations and activities through Business Development and Good Neighbor Program. Planning, preparation and delivery of Meridian hosted Community events.
  • Works with DVP, surrounding branches and team to facilitate the execution of the Community plan.
  • How you will succeed :

    Experience & Education

  • At least 5-7 years of retail banking experience, with superior knowledge of all lending and investment products, including mortgage underwriting and credit adjudication experience.
  • Previous or current leadership experience as a Retail Banking Assistant Branch Manager, or Branch Manager is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Business Administration or related field.
  • Mutual Funds License, PFP or CFP designations are all considered assets.
  • Established network of COI (Centre of Influences) an asset as well.
  • Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to adapt and prioritize; plan workload in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills. Able to mitigate and resolve Member Concerns.
  • Effective analytical skills including solid understanding of financial budget analysis, staffing models and scheduling.
  • Relationship building skills with an ability to effectively partner cross-functionally.
  • Confident presentation skills to lead meetings and to present ideas for socialization to achieve buy-in.
  • Proven track record of bringing new ideas forward, while staying on top of trends in the marketplace.
