1 Primary / 1 Intermediate Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Possess a Bachelor of Education degree
• Must have or be eligible for BC Teacher Certification
• Experience working with First Nations students
• Good communication skills, self-motivated, compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic;
• Ability to manage challenging student behaviors.Knowledge and experience :
• Primary Programs : Read Well, Saxon Math, Acadience Reading
• Intermediate programs : Reading Mastery, Six Minute Solution, Jump Math / Math Focus, Corrective Reading, Third Quest
• Effective classroom management skills;
• Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture;
• Effective planning strategies which include lesson plans, unit plans and year plans;
• Comprehensive assessment strategies which accommodate First Nations learning styles;
• Willingness to integrate appropriate technologies in the classroom;
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs;
• Willingness to incorporate a variety of teaching methods to motivate and encourage students including the use of traditional knowledge in the outdoors and on the land;
• Willingness to participate in local community and cultural events;
• Experience using technology and web-based resources in instruction including Smartboards and IPads;
• Maintains effective and consistent communication with students and parents to discuss progress and goals
• Ensure that students follow all COVID-19 guidelines such as handwashing, physical distancing, staying in cohorts, and mask wearing as required by current health and safety guidelines;
