McNish Steel is seeking a highly organized and motivated Yard Coordinator to oversee the efficient organization of our yard operations. McNish Steel is a leader in the rebar industry, moving towards our 50 anniversary and looking for talent, driven individuals to join our team. The Yard Coordinator will be responsible for shunting trailers, operating skid steer, and ensuring the yard is optimized for production and storage purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and equipment maintenance and will play a key role in maintaining an orderly and productive yard enviornment.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Trailer Shunting :

  • Safely operating shunt truck to move trailers within the yard and shop areas, ensuring smooth production and storage proccesses

2. Skid Steer Operation :

  • Utilize a skid steer to unload and transport inventory and miscellaneous items around the yard and shops, facilitating efficient yard storage and production support
  • 3. Yard Organization

  • Maintain an organized and tidy yard be systematically storing and optimizing space for production and storage
  • 4. Safety Compliance

  • Follow all safety regulations, procedures, and bet practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
  • 5. Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on the shunt trucks, skid steer, and other yard equipment to ensure they are in proper working order
  • 6. Documentation and Reporting

  • Accurately document trailer movements, inventory handling, and equipment maintenance activities. Keep detailed records for effective yard management
  • Job Details

  • Work Hours 7 : 00am-3 : 30pm (Monday- Friday)
  • OT Hours 6 : 00am-4 : 30pm (Monday-Friday) & 5 : 00am-10 : 00am (Saturdays)
  • Full Time Work
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience in yard operations, trailer shunting, and equipment handling preferred
  • Class 1 license is required
  • Proficient in operating skid steers, shunt trucks and other heavy equipment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Basic documentation and reporting skills
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and work in outdoor conditions
  • Must be able to lift and move materials as required
