The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health center integrated with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a member of the Thriving Minds Mental Health Access Collaborative with CAMH and SickKids and a core service provider in the Toronto sector of infant, child and youth mental health services funded by the Ministry of Health (MOH). GH-CCMH provides prevention, early intervention and health promotion services across the city, funded by MOH and other sources. As such, the Centre has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality, evidence-based care, offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention to counseling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are offered in person and in virtual format. We are seeking applicants to fill a full-time contract position as a Communications Advisor. This role will support :
Internal and external communications, including major campaigns and corporate initiatives (reporting to the Senior Communications Supervisor)
Our strategic focus on the development of service pathways between SickKids and GH-CCMH and other system partners, including CAMH (reporting to the Clinical Director, Client and Participant Services, and consulting with the Senior Communications Supervisor).
Responsibilities
Working with the Senior Communications Supervisor, and the Clinical Director, Client and Participant Services, you will provide operational support for the development of core communication deliverables.
We require a talented communications generalist who can own the daily maintenance of internal and external communications at GH-CCMH. The candidate will draw on their experience in both writing and graphic design. Overall, they will need to write for different target audiences, including staff, clients / families and program participants. They will use their design skills to create story graphics, lobby screens, and other promotional materials.
Fulfill other communications requests as required.

Comply with the organization’s vision, policies and procedures
Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Effort
Concentration and creativity are required daily to write / edit and proofread communications, attend meetings (virtual and in- person across sites)
Sitting at a desk for long periods of time daily (i.e. to use a computer) to perform the duties of the job
Qualifications

Experience in a health-care, academic, government, or tech environment
Knowledge of the Toronto child and youth mental health sector
Working Conditions
Be able to travel to the Jarvis or Sheppard site for occasional meetings and spend two days a week onsite (at least one day a week at the Sheppard site in designated office space)
Be available for occasional meetings at SickKids or other relevant locations
