About the Team

Bell's Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP) is an innovative team focused on utilizing Big Data, advanced analytics and machine learning technologies to enable Bell's AI powered networks and create new revenue streams for Bell. This is a rare opportunity for seasoned data and analytics professional to join our fast growing team of Big Data experts and data scientists to design and develop data solutions to support Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) and shape the future of Bell's Enterprise Data Strategy.

As a member of the EDP team, you will play a leading role in proactively analyzing, designing, engineering Enterprise Big Data and AI / ML solutions to address the business needs across BCE.You will also lead a team of highly talented Data Engineers and Data Scientists that are responsible for creating new products and revenue for BCE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper usage of state of the art big data and cloud technologies to meet business goals in line with internal architectural guidelines
  • Create and maintain end-to-end roadmap taking into account business needs, technology evolution, EDP strategy, network and IT evolution and corporate security team's requirements
  • Identify and evaluate future technologies that may have a significant impact on the environment or technology by improving performance and efficiency, decreasing costs, or enabling new revenue sources
  • Apply expertise and leadership in technical solutions, work closely with solution providers, product management, enterprise architects, data engineers and data scientists
  • Liaison with the EDP Infrastructure and Analytics teams to ensure alignment, effective planning and hand-over. Provide technical support, input and direction as required
  • End to end thinking to proactively consider customer experience and operational support in their designs / architecture
  • Ability to bring together cross-functional teams across all of BCE and external partners to design and deliver Use Cases / Solutions that create business value for Bell

Critical Qualifications

  • A Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years architectural experience preferably in a data environment
  • Knowledge and expertise in designing data platforms and solutions
  • Experience in enterprise data modeling, data normalization
  • Experience with data collection and streaming, e.g. Kafka, Flume, Logstash, Rsyslog
  • Experience securing Big Data / Hadoop / Cloud environments
  • Experience developing solutions using Java / Scala, Python
  • Experience in basic networking concepts (firewalls, routing, IP subnets, etc.)
  • Experience in deploying applications and pipelines on the public cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS)
  • Advanced skills with SQL and database systems, e.g. Impala, Hive, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.
  • Familiarity working with NoSQL databases and unstructured / semi-structured data, e.g. HBase, MongoDB, Couchbase or Cassandra, etc.
  • Familiarity working with web services, REST and APIs including SOAP / XML protocol and RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge and practice of consolidation, virtualization and High Availability solutions
  • Exposure to analytics tools as Microstrategy, Tableau, Arcadia, etc.
  • Highly analytical skills and ability to work with large and complex technical data sets
  • Ability to work within an agile setting
  • Ability to oversee and work simultaneously on different requirements with a variety of projects and short timelines
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working with and presenting to all management levels
  • Very good analytical capabilities as well as organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary (written, verbal, and presentation skills)
  • In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Hadoop ecosystem and data integration with Hadoop and Kafka.
  • Experience with Google Cloud (e.g. VPC networks, IAM, Dataflow, Pub / Sub, BigQuery, Dataproc, Cloud Storage, etc.)
  • Experience working in the Telecommunications or Media industries is an asset.
  • Experience using Maven, Git, Jenkins, Se, Ansible or other continuous integration tools is a plus.
  • Played a leading role in the delivery of multiple end-to-end projects.
  • Is easily acquainted to new technologies
  • Telecom Operations and Engineering knowledge (wireless, wireline and TV / Media networks)
  • Programming / Software Development experience.
  • Knowledge of ML technologies and techniques.
