IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Vice President, Human Resources

Reports To : CEO

Duration : 6 months +

Location : Mississauga (hybrid)

Our client, a complex, North America-wide B2B service business, requires a VP of HR to help drive the company’s strategic human capital agenda to support its growth, efficiency, and organizational transformation goals across North America. The interim leader will provide stability to the organization during a critical stage in their evolution due to a departure while also contributing to a number of high-priority projects to elevate the center of excellence and build their labour relations capacity. As a strong voice and key member of the executive leadership team, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a deep impact by serving as a trusted advisor and business partner to the CEO.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Lead a dynamic HR team of professionals, shaping and executing strategies that align with business priorities while fostering a high performing, engaged, and inclusive culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and member of the executive team, providing strategic business acumen to optimize the P&L through effective people strategies.
  • Introduce a new Labour Relations capability with a focus on mitigation and high priority immediate negotiations.
  • Conduct a review of Operations, Finance, IT, HR and Safety to ensure effectiveness and cost optimization Develop and manage an org cost tracker.
  • Lead execution of organizational design decisions and begin roll out.
  • Lay the groundwork to develop and execute an HR strategy aligned with business objectives, integrating human capital initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Build and deliver people plans and programs to enhance revenue and profitability while navigating competitive markets and organizational growth.
  • Champion organizational capability through targeted talent management, workforce planning, and skills development to meet current and future challenges.
  • Implement Organizational Effectiveness Strategies to support business health.
  • Develop leadership planning models and succession frameworks to identify and develop future leaders.
  • Lead and manage large-scale organizational changes, including restructuring and acquisitions, while ensuring cultural alignment.
  • Oversee proactive succession planning for critical senior roles to ensure business continuity.
  • Design and implement talent development programs to grow leadership capabilities.
  • Enhance employee experience and engagement initiatives to drive retention and an environment of empowerment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and provincial regulations across North America.
  • Oversee HR operations, total rewards, and performance management frameworks.
  • Address challenges in federally regulated environments with a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations.
  • Accountable for all the human resources functions including, employee relations and communication, talent management (selection, development and retention), performance management (driving an increasingly performance-based culture), compensation and benefits (including executive compensation) and overall organization development.

Competencies and Requirements :

  • More than 10 years of HR leadership experience, ideally within a global B2B services, retail or supply chain / logistics setting.
  • Labour relations expertise – Proven leadership experience within a unionized setting, including strategy development, bargaining, and continuity planning.
  • Expertise developing and leading of Centers of Excellence (COEs).
  • Strong P&L / results orientation and an ability to engage in a comprehensive range of business issues.
  • Prior experience working within federally regulated environment.
  • North American Scope : Deep understanding of U.S. and Canadian structures and regulatory environments.
  • Deep organizational transformation, organizational design and Cost Management experience
  • Talent Management and Succession Planning.
  • Strategic HR Planning & Execution.
  • A transparent, open and collaborative leadership style that naturally engages at all levels.
  • Prior experience leading end-to-end HR in fast-changing, complex organization were managing in a matrix environment is the norm.
  • Strong foundation in executive compensation practices and philosophies would be a plus.
  • Managerial courage with a natural blend of compassion and toughness.
  • Prior experience serving as a confidant to the CEO or global P&L leader with history of directly engaging that leader on the relevant HR issues.
  • Highest standards of personal and professional integrity and character, serving as a role model of ethical business behavior in all business affairs with personal and professional values consistent with our client’s high standards and mission.
  • Track record of empowering and motivating others to strive for their highest level of achievement with a results / outcome’s orientation—gets things done with an understanding of the bottom line.
  • A ‘service’ mentality with a natural sense of urgency and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Above all, this key leader will demonstrate integrity, low ego, unquestionably strong ethics and a team player approach to success.
