Overview and Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer, the Director, Communications and Marketing provides strategic and operational leadership for all communication and marketing initiatives across internal and external audiences. The role ensures a consistent organizational voice, reinforces Schroeder Ambulatory Centre's (SAC) mission, vision, and strategic priorities, and elevates SAC's presence as a visible and integrated healthcare leader. The Director is responsible for brand management, digital strategy, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, while fostering innovation and excellence in communication and marketing practices.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy aligned with SAC’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives
- Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics to measure impact and effectiveness
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging communication technologies to integrate best practices and innovative approaches
Operational Leadership
Oversee day-to-day communication and marketing operations to ensure timely execution and alignment with strategic prioritiesCoordinate resources, workflows, and cross-departmental collaboration to support efficient delivery of initiativesFacilitate meetings at both departmental and organizational levelsBrand Management
Develop and steward SAC’s brand identity, including voice, messaging, and visual standardsEnsure consistent brand application across all communication channels and organizational materialsCommunications & Engagement
Lead internal and external communication efforts to support alignment, transparency, and stakeholder engagementAdvise internal partners on communication strategies to effectively reach and engage target audiencesBuild and maintain media relationships and secure coverage in regional and national outletsDigital & Social Media
Oversee digital communication and marketing initiatives, including website content management, social media platforms, SEO, and email campaignsManage SAC’s social media presence to enhance engagement, visibility, and community connectionEnsure website content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with SAC’s strategic prioritiesEvent Support & Coordination
Plan, support, and coordinate organizational events, including promotion, on-site communication support, and post-event follow-upCollaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure events reflect SAC’s brand and strategic objectivesMarketing Campaigns and Foundation Support
Develop and execute creative, targeted marketing campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and lead generation.Manage advertising initiatives across multiple channels, ensuring brand consistency and measurable outcomesProvide communication and marketing support to the SAC Foundation as requiredPeople Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and oversight to direct reports, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and performance expectationsFoster a culture of accountability through measurable goals, coaching, and regular performance reviewsSupport professional development and succession planning through ongoing coaching and mentorshipCorporate Responsibilities :
Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Schroeder Ambulatory Centre Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelinesBe responsible for and ensure that all staff supervised are trained and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Schroeder Ambulatory Centre Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelinesSkills & Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in communication and marketing leadership rolesExperience in the healthcare or non-profit sector is considered an assetDemonstrated experience in strategic planning and operational executionStrong knowledge of digital marketing, social media management, and website content strategyExceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences, including senior leadershipDemonstrates strong strategic thinking and the ability to develop long-term communication and marketing plans aligned with organizational goalsConsistently delivers operational excellence by managing day-to-day activities efficiently and maintaining high-quality standardsInspires and motivates teams, fosters collaboration, and promotes accountability across functionsCommunicates effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats with diverse internal and external audiencesEmbraces innovation by leveraging new technologies and creative approaches to enhance communication and marketing impactBuilds and maintains strong relationships with internal partners, external stakeholders, and community representativesAdapts effectively to shifting priorities, emerging trends, and evolving organizational needsUses data, metrics, and insights to inform decision-making and evaluate communication and marketing effectivenessProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector checkAbility to provide proof of immunization and TB recordsSchroeder Ambulatory Centre is a non-profit medical facility dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Ontarians through accessible, outpatient healthcare.
