Your new role
The open role is for a Vice President of Construction and Environmental. This individual will report directly to the Chief Development Officer and initially have two direct reports. The position will manage CreateTO's Construction Management and Environmental Programs for projects under development across Toronto. Responsibilities include overseeing all construction operations, ensuring that their projects are completed on-time and within budget and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Projects include residential developments, mass timber structures, infrastructure and more. The VP of Construction and Environmental will be involved in strategic planning, resource management, and close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. They will build a high-performing team of construction individuals including project managers, site supervisors and environmental professionals. Additionally, they will prepare reports, analyze data, conduct regular site visits, and act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and city staff.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful VP of Construction and Environmental candidate will have at least 15–20 years of experience in construction project management and real estate development, an educational background in construction or engineering, and have managed high performing teams. They will have ample experience in large scale residential construction, infrastructure design and overall project execution. Familiarity with the Building Code Act, Planning Act and Environmental Protection Act is essential. This VP must be an effective communicator with the ability to engage with all project stakeholders, and mentor and lead a team. They will have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams and have experience as a key person for construction projects with municipal agencies and external partners.
