JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Training Officer Diversity Equity & Inclusion.
Reporting to the Director of Training Programs, this position is responsible to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by providing comprehensive consulting and delivery of training, learning and development services in the area of Diversity Equity & Inclusion.
This knowledge can be attained through academia or industry.
Key accountabilities include conducting needs analysis, and evaluate development, learning and training activities to address business changes, performance, and behavior gaps primarily project based for technology and systems training.
Ensure the business has the means to close the gaps for training, learning and development to promote effective and efficient performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Administer training programs and co-ordinate course presentations, demonstrations and lectures. Plan, organize, allocate training assignments to instructional personnel and provided guidance and direction as required.
- Conduct staffing studies and develop training plans. Study staffing plans, forecasts, specific training and skill requirements needed to support plant operations.
Recognize future training needs and develop recommendations as to the most efficient and economic means of achieving such objectives.
Continually review and update training courses. Review and update training courses to reflect changing technology and personnel development requirements.
Be aware of design changes and new developments in the nuclear power generation field. Study the effects on present lesson course material and revise as necessary.
Recommend to Supervisor the updating of training curricula resulting from changes in design or operation of nuclear-electric stations.
Be aware of out- side training courses and programs with a view to improving training center programs.
- Develop and administer qualification standards. Ensure that credits awarded to trainees at time of hire are consistent with standards and that trainees are excluded from those areas of qualifications pro- grams in which they are already competent.
- Develop and present engaging training lessons. Prepare and present lectures and lessons on science fundamentals, systems and equipment principles, station systems, and related specialty training subjects for operators, trades, technical and professional personnel.
Prepare outlines for lectures and written lesson material on topics associated with nuclear-electric power generation, in accordance with the curricula established by Supervisor.
Devise or obtain training aids, illustrations or experiments that will aid in classroom teaching. Deliver lectures and give instruction to classes at assigned location as scheduled.
Mark lesson assignments, set and mark examinations, checkouts or other tests. Keep Supervisor informed of trainee performance as course progresses.
Work with contract partners to develop trades training courses. Develop and set up trades practices courses to train personnel in trades skills required for the nuclear trades qualification program.
Prepare procedures for trouble-shooting methods to identify, locate and correct faults in instrumentation devices and circuits.
Set up step-by-step procedures for the installation, repair or replacement of mechanical devices. Prepare or obtain illustrations to explain certain points or fundamentals, or to illustrate important features.
Obtain and set up sample equipment.
Direct and supervise training programs. Direct and supervise training activities at the training centers. Allocate assignments covering specific portions of the training course.
Assist them in the preparation of material for presentation. Schedule lecture or demonstration periods in accordance with overall training program and rearrange or adjust as plant equipment is available for study or practical training purposes.
Evaluate and report on trainee progress. Evaluate trainee progress to determine potential, readiness for promotion and suitability to fill openings in nuclear stations.
Maintain records of each trainee's results from assignments, examinations and check-outs. Carry out oral tests to ascertain the general knowledge of trainees.
Confer with technical specialists, instructors and demonstrators, to obtain test results, observations on work performance and other data pertinent to the trainees.
Prepare and submit to Supervisor, reports and progress of trainees during the training cycle and upon completion of the courses.
Participate in nuclear recruiting program. Participate in the recruiting and selection of personnel for operating, maintenance and professional level positions in accordance with the nuclear staffing and personnel development programs.
Peruse, applications for employment and recommend those who it is felt should be interviewed. Participate in preliminary interviews with applicants and comment on suitability of candidates.

EDUCATION
- 4-year University Degree
- Knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of nuclear and related sciences and associated mathematics to understand nuclear-electric generating station systems and operation and to prepare and present lectures on science fundamentals and specialty subjects related to nuclear-electric stations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 6 and up to 8 years of relevant experience related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Adult Education.
- Commitment to continuous program improvement and forward momentum, with a strong sense of ownership.
- Collaborative and open-minded, welcoming new ideas and focusing on team development and training support.
- Proficient in embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) into training programs, with a five-year strategic plan to influence and implement DE&I initiatives.
- Experience supporting DE&I across various sectors, including corporate and nuclear.
- Ability to work closely with another team member on specific projects.
- Support for "Train the Trainer" programs, addressing program and trainer needs.
- Experience creating DE&I workshops and individualized accommodation programs.
- Proficiency in using heatmaps for analysis.
- Experience in adult learning and DE&I education.
- Relevant certifications and experience in a DE&I learning environment.
